French artist born in 1969, influenced by Pierre Alechinsky, creates figurative collages with china ink and acrylic paint, depicting urban jungles and charming still life scenes.
Born in 1969, Cecile Colombo is a French artist from Marseille.
She studied at the School of Fine Arts at first before doing a training in environmental art, architecture and urban design. The painter Pierre Alechinsky marked his practice and influenced his work. Passionate about travelling, Cecile Colombo travels through Africa, Angola, Namibia and Kenya.
She creates figurative pieces from collages on which she draws with china ink, walnut stain and acrylic paint. These assemblings come from papers that the artist has collected from flea markets, tissues or labels.
Her interest in architecture and cities can be seen in her paintings, where she depicts panoramas of urban jungles. The buildings rise, and even if the characters are absent from his scenes, we can feel all the energy and the noise that they emit.
Still life and portraits are also part of the artist's palette. We repeatedly find little women in swimsuit, walking always side by side. Seeming dazed, we can perceive they are a little bit lost when we contemplate them. Cozy and Jovial, these bathers emit a sort of sympathy.
The artist gives a lot of importance to the details, whether they are clothes or inanimate objects, they are made with a lot of care and are varied. This technique allows him to dress his canvas and give it an extra texture
Seeing his creations, we can perceive a warm feeling. We get carried away by this childish and light atmosphere with delight.
