Charlotte Yonga

Biography

Charlotte Yonga is a Franco-Cameroonian photographer, born in Paris in 1985.

Her photographic approach, imbued with dramaturgy, inherits a certain documentary tradition and is traversed by questions related to the notion of individuality subject to relocation and to North-South crossed views.

Questioning the dynamics of otherness and personal identity processes, the subjects that Charlotte Yonga represents are most of the time “ordinary” people captured in characteristic contexts. In an alchemy that calls together with realism, strength and fragility, Charlotte erects tangible bodies and personalities captured in their complexities.

Her portraits are regularly published in the press titles Le Monde, M le Magazine, Liberation, L'Obs... His work has been exhibited in France at the Festival Circulations, at Paris Photo, at the Galerie 31 Project and at the Muséum du Havre , to M.Bassy Hamburg in Germany, to the Casablanca Biennale in Morocco, to Bandjoun Station in Cameroon, to the LagosPhoto Festival in Nigeria.
