Biography

Nari Ward is a Jamaican sculpture artist. He obtained his MFA from City University of New York in 1992. Ward's works are characterized by his use of reclaimed materials which he finds in his local area. The repurposed objects are recontextualised into sculptures that comment on a range of sociopolitical issues including race, poverty and our culture of consumption.

Ward's sculptures can be found in the permanent collections of several established institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Whitney Museum of Art and The Studio Museum in Harlem.
