Biography

fnnch (pronounced "finch") is a renowned American street artist based in San Francisco, best known for his colorful, pop-art-inspired murals and stencils. His signature creation, the Honey Bear—inspired by the familiar bear-shaped honey bottles—has become a symbol of San Francisco's urban landscape.

Originally from Kirkwood, Missouri, fnnch moved to the Bay Area in 2005 to attend Stanford University, where he earned degrees in Economics and Mathematics. He began his career in street art in 2013, working anonymously to create art in public spaces and make art accessible to a wider audience beyond galleries and museums.

fnnch’s vibrant work often features nature and everyday objects, blending elements of contemporary pop art and urban culture. His art has appeared in cities like Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago, St. Louis, Tel Aviv, and Hong Kong, expanding his influence worldwide.

Beyond art, fnnch is committed to philanthropy. In 2020, he raised over $293,000 for various charities, demonstrating his dedication to social causes. However, his work has also sparked controversy; critics argue that his Honey Bear murals have become a symbol of gentrification in San Francisco. In 2021, community backlash led to the removal of his mural at the SF LGBT Center.

Continuing to innovate, in 2024, fnnch launched the "Stanley" series, featuring Honey Bears holding trendy Stanley tumblers—a playful reflection on consumer culture and modern trends.

Today, fnnch remains one of the most recognizable street artists in San Francisco, blending public art, pop culture, and community engagement. His works are celebrated for bringing color and accessibility to urban spaces.
