Ghuilerme Atan

Guilherme Atan, better known by his stage name ATAN, was born in the early 1990s in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

After obtaining a degree in advertising, he switched to Design at the Mauá Technological Institute in São Paulo. His talent was quickly recognized there, allowing him to obtain one of the few scholarships to study in England, while continuing to gain professional experience as a designer.

In 2016, he founded Atan Design and distinguished himself by participating in the Ekos Hackathon project organized by Natura Campus, ranking among the three finalists of this collaborative project focused on biodiversity.

However, Guiherme Atan remains deeply passionate about art and drawing. He continues to explore different techniques, while striving to perfect his art. Gradually, he is becoming an emerging figure in contemporary calligraphic portraiture.

The young artist is part of a long tradition that goes beyond the purely artistic aspect: the French calligraphic caricature of the late 18th century, which was gradually becoming more liberal, or the Arabic calligraphic arts, which have been admired on an impressive variety of media for centuries.

What distinguishes Guiherme Atan's work is his ability to combine calligraphy and portraiture to capture the essence of a moment, thus creating an exceptionally profound artistic expression.
He skillfully layers writing with a delicate lightness to give depth to his subjects.

Thanks to his technical mastery and artistic sensitivity, he manages to create both physical and emotional depth using only two apparent dimensions.
