Biography
One, two, three cathedrals? No, just one, at different times of day, from different angles and with architectural details chosen and enhanced by the painter, such as naves, arcades or Gothic pediments. Symbolising Heaven on Earth, the cathedrals in François Milcar's paintings rediscover the colours of yesteryear, when coloured marble, gold leaf applications and grandiose decorations stimulated the body and mind and inspired faith in God.
The artist manipulates, plays with and transforms. He sees the world through a luminous and colourful prism. (...) Movement characterises every line, every curve drawn by this Val d'Oisien painter. (...) Multiple and in perpetual change, the world moves, François Milcar makes it dance. He deconstructs and reconstructs what he sees according to the chromatic musicality of the moment. He paints to capture the moment, as well as the human world and its paradoxes. The artist tries to understand and does not hesitate to commit.
Using a broad and often bold palette of colours, the painter's canvases become mosaics of varying hues and unexpected effects, conveying a vision of the world that is both admiring and committed.
