Paintings and matured papers
VirgieLuce loves fabrics, patterns, textures.
For her, it was the Roederer Academy, the Beaux-Arts de Paris, then the Letellier workshop where she obtained her diploma in textile design. Initially a designer and teacher, she became a dresser/costume designer specializing in patinas and accessories for the Compagnie Deschamps, among others, and spent ten years touring and traveling. Finally established in Paris at the Théâtre de la Ville, she worked as an assistant and then as head of the Dressing/Costume department. Recently settled in Auvergne, she now devotes herself exclusively to her brushes and her beloved papers.
Virgie Luce's works are made of time and the traces left behind, of journeys, of encounters. And of matter, of course: it's about seeking out possibilities for interaction and compatibility. Kraft paper and tissue paper hold a special place, she associates them with the ochres, whites, and blacks that color her inner journeys. But all forms of paper and fibers are welcome: fabric, bark, newspaper, magazine, photographs. From now on, her works are mounted on canvas or wood: the trace is captured to be displayed, but also freed in choirs of materials that sing of memory.
