Roofs: I love what they reveal and what they conceal. Is it because from the window of my childhood home, I had a view of a multitude of intertwined roofs? Colours: red, orange... Shapes: triangles, rectangles, trapezoids...

My paintings, in acrylic on canvas, depict houses and buildings at night, with views of roofs. The compositions, a mixture of reality and imagination, show houses as a set of flat, geometric surfaces, where figurative elements such as roofs, lit or unlit windows, sometimes a cat, the road, etc. appear. The roof element is often highlighted by the colour red and/or the pattern of the tiles. The colours, applied in
flat areas of colour, are outlined and edged in black. The black outlines emphasise the shapes and can suggest darkness…
