From the street to the walls, ArtRat makes the rat a symbol of freedom, resistance, and urban poetry.
Biography
Born in 1980, ArtRat is an urban artist whose passion for art has been lifelong. Fueled by street culture and deeply influenced by major figures such as Blek le Rat and Banksy, he developed an early fascination with stenciling and socially engaged art.
For many years, ArtRat took over the Parisian urban landscape with stenciled rats—symbols of freedom, resistance, and a critical eye on society. For a long time, his interventions remained anonymous and ephemeral, creating a dialogue between the street, the passerby, and the moment. In recent years, ArtRat has chosen to step into the light and fully embrace his work. While preserving the raw and committed spirit of street art, his creations now find their place on permanent supports, bridging the gap between urban and contemporary art. Through the figure of the rat, ArtRat questions notions of power, freedom of expression, and the role of art in public spaces, using an aesthetic that is simultaneously poetic, provocative, and accessible.
