"Pushing myself, daring to go a little above myself, to a certain extent this contributes to my personal development."
Biography
Laurence Scheer is an Alsatian artist living and working near Strasbourg. She experiments as she pleases with techniques, materials, and colors, resulting in approaches that are sometimes figurative and sometimes abstract, featuring surprising juxtapositions. She trained in Visual Arts in Nancy, attended evening classes at the HEAR in Strasbourg, and participated in artist workshops during various internships.
Her career has been punctuated by numerous exhibitions in cities such as Strasbourg, Nancy, Paris, Karlsruhe, Zurich, Vienna, and Lecce. Additionally, she runs art workshops for children at her home studio.
"Accepting chance as a component of the artistic process is part of my approach. I can let myself be surprised by a stain, a smudge, or an 'error' and choose whether or not to integrate it into the final work. I believe that the artwork obeys random laws that I simply accompany. It is also important for me to be in a state of research, not to always repeat the same thing out of comfort. Pushing oneself, daring to go a little beyond one's limits—to a certain extent, this contributes to my personal fulfillment."
