Kadambari Misra

Kadambari Misra was born in 1981 in India, she is a famous painter. Misra graduated from the Institute of Design, she currently works and lives in New Delhi.

She draws inspiration from her environment but also the people she observes intensely. The places where she lived and the various cultures she came across have made an impact on her work as well: India, Iran, Mexico and France.

Kadambari Misra specializes in social photography and documentary. Human being is her main focus: she portrays people who are caught up in the chaos and their anonymity in metropolises like Mexico, London, Paris and New Delhi. Through a series of portraits, the painter glorifies color by intensifying luminosity and contrasts. The artist fills up her canvas with irregular strokes through a blade and other tools. At the crossroads of memory and imagination, her hybrid characters border surreal aspects. Real is a state of mind here, the pictorial strokes reflect their whims.
