Biography

My name is Matrangolo Sergio, aka "Mani Di Legno," for the simple reason that I like the idea of being able to transmit a warm and passionate essence from my hands onto the wood.  I was born on 10-12-1982 I began one summer day while on vacation with a Swiss army knife and a branch I had brought from the sea, and ever since then I have felt compelled to pursue this art that gives me a sense of freedom and identity. I am completely self-taught, and my knowledge is derived from my mistakes and discoveries. I work entirely by hand, using gouges and mallets, just like the masters of South Tyroleania do. I realize my ideas, during my life experiences that pass and impart to me the tasks that lie ahead.
