Lucas Thorik

Lucas Thorik is a Dutch abstract artist born in 1973. With both his parents artists, he grew up in studios, surrounded by canvases and oil paints. As a young adult, he sought out authentic experiences, living and working among counter-cultures. From semi-professional surfer to DJ, designer and collector/retailer of vintage design.

A self-taught artist, Lucas Thorik creates huge, colourful compositions that bridge the worlds of art, design, psychology and music. Adopting a raw, holistic approach, his works explore pure, personal abstraction.

To add texture and thickness, he applies white plaster to his canvases. Like a symphony of colours, he sprays hot pinks, acid yellows and bright oranges onto grey or bluish backdrops, evoking the sound frequencies of techno-music.
