Through my projects, I explore the complexities of being a woman and a mother in a world that often undervalues and subordinates our experiences.
Biography
A graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca, she studied in Kassel and at the HFG Offenbach in Frankfurt, while developing part of her creative work, which she continued in Badajoz and later in Asturias, where she now resides. In 2017, she completed a Master's degree in Integrated Advertising at the International University of La Rioja.
Her early work was based on an informalist style of painting that moved between figuration and abstraction. In 2003, the warehouse where her work was stored burned down, destroying all the pieces she had produced in the previous two years. From that moment on, her work underwent a significant change. She no longer focused on a single technique and abandoned a very visceral and spontaneous way of working.
Over time, she has returned to purely pictorial languages, although she continues to explore new media and techniques. For several years, she taught at the Oviedo School of Art. She currently teaches Design at ESAPA, the Higher School of Art of the Principality of Asturias.
Until February 2018, she was a member of the Offmothers Collective, along with Susana Carro, Roxana Popelka, Eugenia Tejón, Gema Ramos, Natalia Pastor, and Elena de la Puente, where they explored themes of art and motherhood.
She currently belongs to the Association of Women Artists, Blanco, Negro y Magenta, and the Association of Women in the Visual Arts. She is also part of Espacio Local, located in Gijón, and the Laboca Cultural Association that manages it.
