Otto Vautier - le Jeune

Switzerland • 1893 - 1918

Biography

Otto Vautier the Younger was born in 1893 into a distinguished family of Swiss artists. He was the son of Louise Marie Schnell and Otto Adolphe Paul Vautier, a respected painter affiliated with the École de Savièse, and grandson of Benjamin Vautier.

From an early age, Otto showed artistic promise and followed in his family's footsteps, embracing painting as his vocation. Although his career was just beginning to take shape, his life was tragically cut short in 1918 at the age of 25.

Because of his early death, little documentation of his work survives, and his artistic legacy remains largely overshadowed by that of his father and grandfather. Nonetheless, he is remembered as part of a notable lineage in Swiss art history.
