Biography

Born in 1968 in Los Angeles, Jim Kazanjian is an American artist who uses a technique that he calls "hyper collage". He takes photomontage to a new level, that of monumental art.

Each work consists of an assemblage of dozens of eclectic photographs that form an impossible building. The idea is simple when put on paper, but it requires a huge amount of work during the preparatory phase, as the author has collected about 25,000 photos for his project. These phantasmagoric constructions are inspired by the works of the Dutch artist M. C. Escher and the famous fantasy writer, H. P. Lovecraft.

One of the artist’s objectives "to put an end to this misunderstanding that makes photography a reference in terms of objectivity."
