French artist born in 1972, creates dreamlike, magical artworks influenced by graffiti, Japanese art, Matisse, and Keith Haring.
Julien Colombier is a French artist, born in 1972, who lives and works in Paris.
A self-taught painter, he works mainly with acrylics and oil pastels and his supports range from canvas to paper, including murals, wood as well as installations. He is strongly influenced by the world of graffitti( he was particularly active in certain spaces of LaTour 13), Japanese art, Matisse and Keith Haring.
The artistic world of Julien Colombier is dreamlike, magical and disturbing at the same time. It is full of jungles and colorful tropical forest which play with the limits of figuration and decoration. The artist repeats his geometric and plant patterns in an obsessional way, creating a hypnotic organic environment for the viewer.
His work describes a world without man and how it was before and after man's disappearance, His art is strongly influenced by biblical references such as the apocalypse, the flood, apparitions, divine lights, hell and paradise.
The artist regularly collaborates with brands(such as Cartier 2015 and Chanel) customizing their stores.
