Janina Rossiter, also known as Nina Rossiter – French-German ARTIVIST, author, and painter

Janina Rossiter is a French-German artist whose work focuses on ocean conservation and raising awareness about climate change. She explores color and texture in her paintings, capturing the fluidity and fragility of water. Her works translate the movements and textures of the oceans to inspire audiences to act for the protection of aquatic ecosystems.

Novembre 2021 – Illustration Mangroves

Her illustration Mangroves, part of the Sketch For Survival contest organized by Explorers Against Extinction, was selected for exhibition in the Blue Zone VIP area at the COP26 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland.

Mai 2022 – ChangeNOW, Paris

She participated in the ART FOR CHANGE program at the ChangeNOW Summit in Paris. Four works from her book 1, 2, 3, Who’s Cleaning the Sea? were exhibited at the Grand Palais Éphémère. She also took part in the panel Building a Culture for Change.

Décembre 2022 – POLITICO, Bruxelles

Her illustrations were exhibited during Sustainability Future Week.

Février 2023 – IMPAC5, Vancouver, Canada

Her works were selected to be presented at the 5th International Marine Protected Areas Congress.

2024 – ChangeNOW, Paris

Janina Rossiter was invited to create the official summit poster, the central totem, the monumental Eiffel Stage windows, and the Planète Océan exhibition.

2025 – 22e Forum international sur le climat et la météorologie, Paris

Janina Rossiter participated in the 22nd International Weather and Climate Forum at the Académie du Climat in Paris, featuring the series The Common Thread Is Blue.

2025 – UN Ocean Conference (UNOC3), Nice

World Ocean Week (WOW) Festival, an official United Nations side event during the UN Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, featured Janina Rossiter (Artivist).

2025 – ChangeNOW, Paris

The Interconnection Totem, the official ChangeNOW posters, and the design of the Legacy Stage (main stage) were also her creations for the 2025 summit.

As an artist, Janina feels happiest when recreating images of the ocean in her paintings. “I hope that through my art and my love of the sea, I can make my voice heard and help create change.”
