Biography

Mario Bellini, born February 1, 1935 in Milan, is an Italian designer and architect.

Mario Bellini studied architecture at the Polytechnic of Milan from which he graduated in 1959.

Among the works he created are the line of Bambole seats for B&B Italia (en) in 1972, the Cab armchair and chair distributed by Cassina SpA (en) (en) (1977) and the Figura office chairs, made for Vitra in collaboration with Dieter Thiel. He has also designed lighting for FLOS (it), for Artemide and for Erco, as well as audiovisual equipment for Yamaha and Brionvega (it).

Mario Bellini has won numerous design awards, including seven Compasso d'Oro, and believes that improving the environment can be achieved through the unification of design.
