Sophie Morisse

France Born in: 1962
Born in 1962 in France, Sophie Morisse studied in Rouen. She is specialized in figurative art and her main model is her daughter Thaïs (10 years old). Her favorite theme is the childhood and the tales.. She followed Philippe Garel’s courses in Beaux Art of Rouen until 1987.

Figurative painting is the obvious choice for her. The workmanship of her works or even the choice of her framing, reminds those of Edgar Degas or Les nfantes of Vélasquez. In her paintings, she shows childhood moments, without ambiguity, by recapturing tales that are at the same time timeless, cruel and charming. Sophie Morisse’s paintings seem to be a rewriting.

With a lot of subtlety and humor, Sophie Morisse’s works mention childhood and wake up childish souls.
