Presentation

He is related to the movement of narrative figuration and participated in the second founding exhibition of this movement (Mythologies Daily 2 - National Museum of Modern Art - 1977). Born in 1936 in Paris, Gérard Guyomard discovered his artistic practice on the job, particularly through contact with painting restorers. Its production began in 1964 and was then part of the movement of Narrative Figuration while maintaining a certain independence. Very quickly, overlays became his mode of expression. In the 70s, the photo will become part of his paintings. Looking at the entrance to a metro entrance in Paris, he is struck by the fleeting passage of waves of travelers. The photo will enable him to capture this movement and to integrate these fleeting silhouettes into his paintings, by superimposing them. His canvases are intertwining of ironic graffiti, everyday images and erotic fantasies.
