Confrontation does not always involve shouting; sometimes it is a whisper or even a long silence. It is a gaze directed inward, where we avoid facing our fears, our guilt, and what we do not understand.
Confrontation is like touching a sore tooth without anesthesia, but it is also opening the door to what was waiting to be seen, because yes, confrontation brings knowledge, it brings truth, it brings life, and a little death too.
I spoke to you, my beautiful monster, I looked you in the eye, and for the first time I did not bow my head before you, for the first time I could distinguish your form. I know that something of you will always live in me, and that something of me remained in you too, because I gave you power, I fed you with my silences, with my fear, with my shadow, but today, after so many attempts, after so much struggle, I feel with my whole body that I am a little stronger than you, and that does not mean that you are no longer there, but that you are no longer in charge. Now I walk with my head held high, aware of what I was and what I am, but sustained by what I have learned, and that alone is freedom.
