Frédéric Florit

Graffiti artist, visual artist for thirty years since 1994. Self-taught, then training in applied arts, visual communication and at the Lyon School of Fine Arts.

I am developing a calligraphic style mixing with graffiti (Calligraffer Book 2022 ks retrospective edition 1999-2022) 3D lettering incorporating futuristic architecture.

My work is presented through a diversity of medium and production work on paper, sculpture, painting, installation, photography, Lightpainting.

My work is nourished by experiments which in one technique inspire me to create in another. For example, my research into light effects in Light Painting inspires me for the effects that I will put in my Graffs and frescoes. The materials respond to each other like the use of Dibond aluminum, on which I make my photo prints, and which will be the material for my sculptures as well as for paintings, which will then be a mixture of the two sculpture paints.

The work also uses the notion of recycling by recovering things that will help me create. Piece of plastic that will serve as a stencil, and that I will use to paint with light in the photographic field.

Or the reuse of my tools reintegrated into sculptures. (marker cap, bomb.)

A variety of creative concepts reflect my artistic career, in an assiduous practice of graffiti, in the urban environment, in the search for unusual places, the appropriation of urban texture, installation in situ and via personal and group exhibitions.

A research in painting dealing with the mutation and transformation of the body, on the theme of the computer bug since 2006, which has become pixel Art or Glitch. By creating a bridge between the arts of graffiti, photography, calligraphy, video performance, lighting, choreography, graphics…

Works which are closer to contemporary research, conceptual or even in figurative attraction.
