Biography

Bennie is a French sculptor, born in 1968.

Specialized in the Raku ceramic, she first learned painting and drawing in the workshops of Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Art in Bourges. However, she discovered the pleasures of molding and texture, which made her convert to sculpture. After having experimented with several techniques, she now exclusively uses the Raku technique.

Raku is a Japanese technique, it is distinguished through its firing process as the piece undergoes a strong thermal shock, which is the reason for the cracks. She combines this technique with a bit of chance.

Bennie adds her personal touch. While the pieces are still burning hot, she puts them in sawdust, which blackens the cracks. This ancient technique allows her to shape her animals, especially puppies.
