Presentation

Christine Jamet is a French sculptor born in 1949 in Finistère. Art was not always her vocation : she started her career as a nurse. Some years later, she settled in Canada, where she became passionate about sculpture. She then studied drawing, ceramics, foundry and to work with bronze at the Ceramics School of Québec and then at the Art Center of Alberta. After living in Canada for ten years, she returned to France and settled in Toulouse.

To create her pieces, Christine Jamet draws her inspiration from dance and mythology, placing woman at the heart of her creations. Under the hands of the artist the bodies are generous and reveal feminine curves. In parallel, the artist also does totems and bulls, which is a legacy of the time spent in Canada, in contact with the Amerindian cultures and Bisons.

Christine Jamet's sculptures are exhibited everywhere in France as well as in Spain, Italy, Norway, Germany. She has also presented her creations in "Art Fairs" in Geneva, London and Hong-Kong. She obtained the prize of sculpture in Bordeaux, Colomiers, Giroussens, Aucamville, as well as the prize of the General Counsel of Toulouse, Christine Jamet is currently the head of the municipal atelier where she gives sculpture classes.
