Rob van Assen

Rob van Assen (1944-2022) was a 'contemporary old master' in fine-art painting. His predilection for the Romantic school was reflected in his atmospheric winter and summer landscapes.

Rob van Assen was self-taught and has been drawing and painting since his early childhood. His father inspired him.

As a fine-art painter he was very versatile in various subjects and had the gift to be able to paint what you do not see.

The amazingly fine technique with which he caresses the canvas or panel, suggests a long-term of looking up to the great masters.

When he painted, everything went automatically. He visualized that he lived in the romance of the landscape with undoubtedly a deeper longing for that time.

He was also the creator of the Ocean Collection, a series of 100 paintings of all known cetaceans. This collection was acquired by museum Ecomare in the Netherlands.
