Collector’s Guide
Guillaume Chiron is a French multidisciplinary artist born in 1977. He quickly developed a passion for drawing, painting, publishing fanzines and organizing concerts.
A graduate of EESI, the art school of Poitiers in 2002, he made his first exhibitions at the Galerie du Triangle in Bordeaux or at Ircam in Paris, and worked with Bruno Peinado during the assembly of the exhibition. Escape (1999, Modern Comfort).
He taught Plastic Arts for a while before joining the Confort Moderne team in Poitiers, in 2003, today Center d'Art et Scène de Musique Actuelles. He became Curator for Education and Research there, imagined and implemented projects that contributed to the artistic and cultural influence of the place, both locally and internationally. In particular, he is developing Rencontre du 3ème type, a program of contemporary artistic creation that has been particularly noticed, such as the “La Caravane-Piscine" project, produced with the visual artist Benedetto Bufalino.
He works with many emerging artists, including Ivan Argote, Pauline Bastard, Davide Balula, Julien Berthier, Baptiste Brunello, Stéphanie Cherpin, Vincent Ganivet, Louis Gary, Laurent Le Deunff, Le Gentil Garçon, Moolinex, Jeanne Moynot and Julien Paci. .
In parallel and until 2014, he officiated in various rock groups, more particularly Microfilm (guitar) for which he forged most of the visual and sound identity. The voices are dialogues that he collects in films from the 1950s to 1970s and the concerts are the subject of projections of film sequences that he has repainted image by image or highlighted. He also signs the group's album covers, the last of which is a collage.
There followed a large production of collages which he compiled into three self-published works: Eat the banana, speak upright! (2015), Learning with Tweezers (2017) and Oops! (2019).
From 2016, he also exhibited his work at Maison Vide in Crugny (51), at Superette in Paris, at the MAP festival in Toulouse, at the Galerie Grand'Rue in Poitiers, at the Château de Bressuire (79) and at La Vallée in Brussels. He then invests the place by presenting a set of original collages but also serigraphs, tapestries and various installations.
