This sculpture possesses a singular and unique beauty that speaks to art collectors and worths a reflection, especially if you experience that same initial amorous gaze.
By likening the female body to an arched bridge, Liang Binbin, through his sculpture titled "Bridge," explores the tension between the human form and the fluidity of water. The extreme movement of the body on the water's surface isn't tense in its suspended space, but rather a kind of stretching.
This work stands as a staggering testament to the fusion of form and emotion within the realm of contemporary sculpture. With exquisite mastery of bronze, Binbin unveils a piece that effortlessly traverses the boundaries of reality and imagination, leaving spectators awestruck by its ethereal presence.
When beholding "Bridge," it's impossible not to be drawn into the dreamlike world it creates. The sculpture captures a suspended moment, a pause in the chaos of existence, inviting spectators to join the woman in her balletic journey across a surface of water. It's a piece that encourages introspection and contemplation, a meditation on the delicate balance between the human spirit and the inexorable forces of nature.
At the heart of this sculpture lies a profound duality—a convergence of two distinct yet harmonious entities. At first glance, the sculpture seems to defy the laws of physics, with a gracefully swimming female figure leaping from the water, her form languidly suspended in a dance like that of a bridge. During the clay sculpting process, the work is temporarily pressed onto the clamp, creating an elegant sleeping posture in the composition. This posture contrasts starkly with the weight of the clamp. In reality, this work reveals a multitude of complex changes within this movement. It's a dance with water, an elemental partner responding to each of its fluid movements. Her posture exudes an aura of contemplative tranquility, inviting observers to delve into her introspective world.
The manipulation of form is both unusual and significant, notably the twisting of the back and buttocks, as well as the changes in the legs, which exhibit singular characteristics. Liang Binbin manages to express an artistic tension between the delicacy of the female form and the resistance of the material, thus creating a piece that transcends conventions and invites deep reflection on the nature and duality of artistic expression.
Around her, the second element manifests—an exquisitely shiny bronze water surface. Its movement is frozen in time, encapsulating the ephemeral and evanescent nature of life's essence. This symbiotic relationship between the human form and the liquid element spawns a narrative of interconnectedness, where the body becomes a conduit for the intangible. This rippling water surface, with its radiant hue and majestic scale, serves as a portal to another dimension, an enchanting gateway to an abstract aquatic world. Liang Binbin masterfully orchestrates this harmonious relationship between human and water, imbuing his work with a profound sense of freedom and fluidity.
Liang Binbin is a Chinese artist living in Belgium. He was born in 1979 in Zhejiang Province, China. The artist grew up and did his studies at the Beijing Institute of Art & Design (Decoration Art department) in China.
Over the last 17 years, contemporary sculptures and monumental size installations in bronze and stainless steel have been made and widely exhibited in many galleries in China. Also he participated in numerous National and International exhibitions.
The work of Liang Binbin is magnificent because it bears witness to a very feminine and accomplished presence. It inspires, it inspires love… In addition, it is of great aesthetic beauty. His sculptures illustrate woman in a deep and magic moment of herself. Tenderly and proudly, she is in her thought, a meditation, a dream… Her mind blowing up to the sky forming an growing spirit that shines and touches our heart. The work of the artist is very introspective. Liang Binbin has made a place where this woman is in her own world. These moments can be very intense. Minutes can become hours and hours become years when we are in deep meditation. The rest of the world no longer exists and time takes on its full value. The luxury of this time that we want to offer ourselves... In addition, this emotion is very skilfully represented by the artist on the face of this woman where her face is in serenity, and in a deep happiness and tender love. Through it, our imagination can lead us to a lot of scenarios and stories,... or simply our own.
Liang Binbin sculpts fascinating, singular and unique figure, the synthesis of forms and thoughts, expresses the reality of life and profonde sensations and complex emotions of human being, aspiring to freedom and imprints itself for ever on our minds. What makes the artist unique is his perfection of the line, the body, the movement that reduced to the essential of human life that assuredly speaks to everyone at the very depth of their being...
