Presentation

Bertille Bak was born in 1983 in Arras, and now lives and works in Paris.

In 2019, she was recipient of the third edition of the Mario Merz Prize. She is now artist-in-residence at the Pinault Collection, Lens, France.

Through her work, Bertille Bak reinstates with humor and poetry the personal and collective history. Together with members of the communities she encounters, she elaborates a scenario in which people who are ordinarily constrained to passive resistance, and a sort of invisibility, become the actors of their own stories within their usual environments: the everyday replayed, amplified and redirected blending with the fiction imagined by the artist.
