This beautifully crafted metal sculpture displays a human figure holding itself together. Each piece of metal rod is carefully bent into shape and welded together carefully. The rods capture the “labas", the fragile, light, fibers of the flesh. It is a catharsis of the human body. The sculpture displays a beautiful paradox between the transitory and the permanent. It's dynamic composition invites viewers to ponder the balance between organic life and artificial constructs. The piece stands as a testament to modern artistic exploration. The unique material's and shapes make this piece so special.
Joshua Limon Palisoc is a Visual Artist hailing form Nueva Ecija, Phillipines.
He explores how the body and its nuances can be instruments to lay narratives of internal phenomena and how they are influenced by external elements: identity, morality, sexuality, freedom and self actualization shaped and challenged by social constructs like religion and cultural norms. He recurrently presents the body as a vessel of the soul, a reflection of what is inside, a microcosm of the universe and contradictions. His own Sympathetic Magic, a ritualisitic experience of transferring his own essence to an inanimate object, creating form allows him to make extensions of himself, project, observe and understand repressed emotions, desires and state of mind. The figures range from mindful observations to abstracted representations. Each piece of metal rod is bent to shape and welded together to capture the “labas", the fragile fibers of the flesh, a catharsis playing a beautiful paradox between the transitory and the permanent.
