Bagia combines often traditional Balinese elements like Hindu ceremonies or traditional attire with political statements in vivid and colorful artworks

Biography

Born in 1992 in Ubud. During his early years he had a keen interest in fairytale books and cartoons and began drawing as a way to re-create the faces and narratives of his favourite characters. Bagia graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Indonesian Institute of Arts in Denpasar. He works out of his studio in Ubud, Bali.

During his studies, Bagia expanded his understanding of art and cultivated an ability to conceptualise his work. He combines often traditional Balinese elements like Hindu ceremonies or traditional attire with political statements in vivid and colorful artworks with many small details to be observed when studying the painting in detail.

Bagia had participated in various exhibitions in Indonesia and we now try to give him a broader exposure to art-lovers in Europe.

He collaborates with the Tobian Art Gallery since 2023.
