Biography
Sabine Cherki is a French sculptor born in 1958 in Marseille. She studied sculpture at the National School of Fine Arts and then joined the School of Applied Arts of Paris. She completed her training with a curriculum in sciences and techniques for the conservation and the restoration of cultural property. She then developed her artistic approach, exploring monumental sculpture and relief. She also created her characteristic "Louloutes", female sculptures, in terracota and composite materials. The latter are part of a synthesis of reflections on contradictory feelings aroused by childhood, daily life. Humor, absurdity and naivety surround these sculptures inspired by human nature. Sabine Cherki's works are exhibited in France as well as in Germany and Belgium. Her work is also part of private and public collections.
