Artist Statement:
"I saw. I liked. I painted. That about sums it up. That's how and why I paint."
I've worked diligently at creating my own style which I call contemporary realism. My paintings are my vision of the places I love, the colorful cityscapes and ordinary things that catch my eye.
I began developing my art when I was a very young child with my painter grandfather mentoring me. I worked in oil and oil pastels growing up and through college when Liquitex was the only option for acrylics. Several years ago I fell in love with acrylics and mostly turned my back on oils to work with acrylics almost exclusively.
I received my BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. While in public school, I attended the scholarship class at the Houston Museum of Fine Art. In addition to painting, I am an illustrator and have worked most of my life as a graphic and web designer for small studios and Fortune 500 companies but now I am able to devote every day to painting.
I live in a pine forest near my native Houston.
Education:
BFA from San Francisco Art Institute.
Artistic Influences:
My grandfather was a realistic painter and heavily influenced me at the beginning. By the time I got to SFAI my style started being influenced by Edward Hopper and William Buffet. And more recently by Vincent.
