Anne Labouret

France

Anne Labouret explores a spontaneous and joyfully colorful abstract painting, born from a pleasure discovered late in life, where instinct guides the gesture and frees creativity.

Biography

Anne Labouret came to painting as an adult, then an engineer, somewhat by chance. She discovered artistic impulses she hadn't known she possessed, and above all, an immense pleasure in painting. Why acrylic? Why abstract? Because it's an immediate and versatile medium, compatible with all kinds of techniques (materials, collages, graphics, etc.).

Anne follows her instincts, seeking, while working on her painting, the harmony of composition, based on form, gesture, depth, and light. Her painting is spontaneous, varied, very colorful, and constantly evolving. She was a student of Bruno Le Sourd, an artist from Arcueil (94), who passed away this year, for 10 years. “For me, creating an abstract painting is about trying, failing, starting again, painting quickly, as if in a hurry, on a wire, and suddenly liking what you see and taking pleasure in it." “Exploring is also about initially following an instruction or an intention, and then freeing yourself from it. By switching from mental control to trusting your gesture, you enter a resolutely personal and exhilarating mode of creation."
