Frédéric Delanglade

Frédéric Delanglade (1907-1970) was a French painter, illustrator, and writer close to Surrealism. Passionate about dreams, psychoanalysis, and the art of the mentally ill, he joined the movement in 1933 and met several of the group's major figures in Marseille during the war. In 1947, at the request of André Breton, he created one of the Twelve Altars for the International Surrealist Exhibition at the Galerie Maeght and ensured the graphic unity of the Surrealist card game. He also contributed to the illustration of, alongside Dalí, Buffet, and Cocteau, in a book presented as the most expensive in the world. After the war, he continued a body of work marked by frescoes and literary illustrations.
