Biography

Aya Toshikawa (Lady Kawai) was born in 1979 in Kobe, Japan. After graduating, she began working as an animator and found a job in the industry of toys and games. In 1999 she produced poster, package, and skate board design. She typically paints from photographs, representing beautiful female Manga characters. Aya Toshikawa's artistic language is very much that of hand drawing, so that all the works produced for the Manga magazines maintain their feelings and expressions, even though painted on canvas. Toshikawa refreshing approach to the "fine art" was successfully received when she made his adaptation to oil paintings . Her creative universe is full of Lolita Manga, baby-faced and pure. The scenes are obviously suggestive, composed of young girls who are most of the time naked or clad only in underwear, along with characters engaging in subversive acts. Apart from being a brillant animator Aya Toshikawa has succeeded in converting her talent the world of fine art and has herself an international name as a talented and diverse artist.
