Mikaela Olovsson

Mikaela Olovsson, born 1979 in Sweden, is a ceramic artist and photographer.

Her artistic practice emerges from moments in life and from the spaces in between — quiet, formative pauses where transformation occurs and form reveals itself. She is drawn to the quiet movement at work in time, in being, and in living, where the earth, the body, and the landscape become silent teachers.Inspired by the Swedish landscape and the flow of life, she works with both ceramic and photographic expression. Through close contact with natural materials, she explores form, colour, and presence, creating unique works shaped by life and by the unseen spaces that hold it. Each work seeks its true form — one that is continually born, returns, and remains faithful to its essence.

Since childhood, Mikaela has spent time at her grandparents' summer home on the West Coast of Sweden. Today, she has a studio along this coast, still deeply connected to the coastal landscape and its rhythms. Nature remains a central source of inspiration, informing both her sculptural work and her photography. Through ceramics and photography, she creates glimpses of the flow of life as they pass through time and space.

"I’m deeply drawn to the ocean and the coastline — places where the boundary between the inner and outer worlds seems to dissolve. My work is rooted in this connection. The ocean is more than inspiration — it’s a mirror, a guide, and a collaborator in my process. I combine organic forms with the intimacy and closeness of nature and life in my expressions."
