Celebrating African heritage through vibrant mixed media that transforms tradition into modern expression.
Biography
Born in 2002 in Chivi, Zimbabwe, Willard Magiga discovered his artistic talent at age nine. Growing up in a rural environment, he began drawing scenes of village life and nature, inspired by African culture and tradition. After completing his Ordinary Level in 2021, he chose to pursue art full-time, following his passion despite uncertainty. Today, Willard specializes in mixed media, blending paint, fabric, paper, and natural textures to explore identity, tradition, and emotion. His work reflects a deep connection to African spirituality and everyday life, transforming simple materials into rich, symbolic stories. Inspired by community, nature, and folklore, he uses color and texture to evoke warmth and resilience. Willard's growing recognition in Zimbabwe's art scene has led him to exhibit with Swiss-Zim Heritage Gallery, working alongside mentors like Keith Zenda and Tonderai Mujuru. His art celebrates heritage, sustainability, and the beauty of African life.
