Biography

Yoël Benharrouche, born in 1961 in Beersheva, Israel, is a celebrated artist renowned for his striking and poetic works that merge the material with the spiritual. Growing up in Aschdod, where he developed a deep connection to the Scriptures, Benharrouche's early years were marked by a strong sense of spirituality. His passion for Jewish texts and teachings led him to become a well-known face at various study centres, where he honed his intellectual and artistic approach.

In 1974, Benharrouche relocated to Nice, France, where he completed his Fine Arts training in 1985. His studies in the fundamentals of Jewish philosophy, paired with his art education, cultivated a profound sensitivity to the deeper meanings of life, which would become the hallmark of his work. From his early canvases, it's evident that Benharrouche's art is driven by a quest for the Absolute, exploring mystical concepts of humanity and the divine.

In 1993, Benharrouche returned to Israel, settling near the gateway to the desert. The grand spiritual backdrop of the region further fueled his creativity, inspiring him to explore new artistic horizons. Alongside his wife and five children, Benharrouche sculpted and painted a vision of the world where color and form transform into expressions of the Creator and Creation itself. His works reveal a unique blend of delicate lyricism and the transcendent, reflecting his profound belief in the spiritual dimensions of life.

Today, Yoël Benharrouche's art is celebrated internationally, with his works displayed in galleries around the world and part of numerous private collections. Critics consistently praise his talent and the depth of emotion conveyed in his art, solidifying his reputation as a distinguished artist of the contemporary art scene.

Benharrouche's ability to intertwine spirituality and art with a delicate aesthetic continues to captivate audiences worldwide, making him a pivotal figure in contemporary Israeli and global art.
