Biography
The painting takes over
Brigitte Koch, a French artist, has been exhibiting since 2006 in France, Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg.
Brigitte Koch paints with intensity and impatience. Her works are paintings (to be lived with). Despite their turbulence, they possess a kind of discretion that allows one to begin to look at them, to enter them, to begin to experience them, but also to let them exist, retaining only the atmosphere emanating from the interplay of colors and the uncertain figures that appear within them. Brigitte Koch captures the simplicity and poetry of everyday life. In her works, she allows figures and environments to emerge, often around a moment of connection and shared human presence.
Brigitte Koch's artistic universe is a fusion of various major artistic movements, ranging from German Impressionism to Old Masters such as Vuillard and Bonnard. However, her main artistic current lies in contemporary figurative painting, with a strong grounding in abstract expressionism, influenced by Willem De Kooning and, more recently, Cecily Brown and Adrian Ghenie.
