ALBENA, 25 years of creation in France.

Poet, architect and then graphic designer, I tamed oil painting after my arrival in FRANCE. I am a figurative style artist, working on canvas or old wood, using successive layers ("glaze"). My first visual inspirations are books from my childhood, richly illustrated. My work is constantly evolving towards an imagery-symbiosis of different cultures, legends, mythologies: Persia, India, Egypt, Japan, Thrace, Byzantium. With inspiration from stained glass, Art Nouveau, fairy tales from my childhood, each painting is an “eternal shelter” for the best part of me - my childhood dreams.
