"For Hyacinthe Ouattara, creation is as much a necessity as a call, an energy, a form, a force. By following the traces of his work around the link, the artist offers us poetic manifestations which respond to each other by playing with form and material."

The artist travels through time in search of the moment to capture and tells us stories on the border between reality and the spiritual world. Its raw materials are made up of ancestrality, its memories and the between two worlds where the story is told. Added to these inspirations are the writings of Edouard Glissant, whose words particularly resonate with the stories and forces with which the works of Hyacinthe Ouattara are charged.

He thus offers an artistic language that breaks with the aesthetics on the edge of art brut that he observes in Burkina Faso. In his use of fabric, there is a progressive emancipation of the material illustrated by the thread. Everything is linked to movement in space. Hyacinthe Ouattara leads a poetic conversation with those around him. Gradually, he creates a human constellation without judgment or boundaries. An agglomeration of past stories which thus form the poetry of the link, an omnipresent subject in the works of Hyacinthe Ouattara. The artist frees himself from form and intertwines stories going so far as to solicit the words of the spirits of the earth. Thus La Mémoire du Monde also welcomes Les Battements Cardiaques de la Terre, a project carried out in Diébougou in the summer of 2023, where the artist creates a series of paintings that he buries and leaves for the free expression of the elements.

The exhibition therefore presents itself as a journey through the inhabited universe of Hyacinthe Ouattara. An anthology of series connected to each other by the memories it archives in the material. The fabric thus mixes with the paint, manifesting The Memory of the World by Hyacinthe Ouattara, to be discovered from January 6 to February 24, 2024.
