Bruno Vilela is a painter born in Recife in the North of Brazil in 1977. He lives and works in Recife. He is one of Saatchi gallery's artists.
"When I am painting or drawing, I am in a sort of self-trance that leads me to childhood memories, extracorporeal sensations, feelings I remember from my experiences in nature, especially in the Chapada Diamantina and surfing or diving in the sea. These feelings lead me to these worlds again, and I record everything I see, hear, feel in painting or drawing.
These "recordings" are my work. Without this process the work is sterile, it does not make sense to me. Painting and drawing take me directly to these worlds. They are a form of meditation."
