Biography
Paz Corona, a Chilean-born French artist, paints with oil on rough canvases. The characters stand out clearly from unfinished background. Her style is based on large and sometimes violent visible brushstrokes. In some of her monumental portraits or bodies, it is beyond painting that the subject appears (a gaze, a voice, nothingness). Her language is neither strictly expressionist nor figurative; her painting is a matt and opaque material -rather than a medium- sometimes rather a substraction of the material just like in a sculpture.
