Biography

Ming Ying is a Chinese artist known for her vivid and abstract depictions of groups and individuals within domestic and public settings. She explores the feelings of alienation or marginalization experienced by individuals who often find themselves distanced from their surroundings. As a London-based artist born in Beijing, China, shereflects on the experiences of different races, cultures, and distinct socialclasses within new surroundings. By employing distorted strokes, a vibrantcolor palette and layering her paint, Ying toes the line between figuration andabstraction, forming a world parallel to, yet separated from reality. In 2018, she received her BA in Fine Art Painting from the University of the Arts London before earning a MA degree from the Royal College of Art in 2020.
