Presentation

Jing Wang was born in 1983 in Changsha, China.

Since 2002, she has lived and worked in France. She graduated from National Arts and Design School of Grenoble. She examines new languages to create metaphorical illusions emerging from her European and Chinese culture. Her work deals with individual and collective memory, reality perception as well as everyday life. Moreover, her short film “If my eyes were always black” won one of the awards “Prix du Public de l’Inconnu” at the Festival Paris 2014.

Between reality and fiction, irony and poetry, Jing Wang's photographic series "C-elle" is shown in the second exhibition MIX & MATCH. She took some self-portraits with her smartphone that she laid on the ground, leans over and took pictures with her toe. This offbeat shooting never fully reveals the artist who becomes a strange creature in the end.
