Sabine Kalka
France
Presentation
Sabine Kalka, a child from Pas de Calais whose origins are also rooted in Poland, bathed in the soft colors of the northern sky. From her childhood, she was passionate about the films of Méliès and Chaplin and in particular for the strength of the black beam on the white screen, she worked there a lot with charcoal and gray pencil. From primary school, she gave her mother copies of Renoir and dreamed of immersing herself in it. As an adult, she moved to the southeast and discovered new colors there that inspired her in her quest for art. In Aix en Provence, she enrolled in art classes and began to work on landscapes in oil and Sainte Victoire was no exception, influenced by the Impressionist movement. At the same time, she took acting lessons and joined the Caramentran company in Lançon de Provence.
Change of life, she arrived in the southwest about ten years ago, and likes to say that she needs to "create to exist".
She then pursues a long-term work and thus defines herself as a "modern impressionist", by offering her vision of the world in her own way, whose predilection is oil painting, ink and acrylic that she shapes in the knife. She received twice in 2015 and 2018 the Prize of the city of Pau for her work. An award-winning work entitled "Deportation" currently exhibited at the Resistance and Deportation Museum in Pau and an award-winning work for the representation of Place Clémenceau in the city of Pau.
Sabine Kalka is a generous artist and this is felt in the material, the texture and the energy of her work! His look is a call to life and the light transcribed in his paintings through his color palette transports us between dream and reality!
