Biography
PLAF – Visual Artist
Acronym of his first and last names: Pierre, Louis, Antoine, FAURE
Plaf, a French artist, has been exhibiting for almost 40 years both in France and abroad.
Art? A way to express oneself, to articulate the inexpressible, to convey sensations, feelings, desires, anxieties, and joys. Nature, eroticism, surrealism, and a touch of poetry are the primary sources of inspiration for his creations. For years, Plaf has explored various mediums that resonate with his current sensibilities.
Plaf does not rule out any technique, any medium.
However, its DNA is sculpture with materials as different as glass, plaster and its patinas, bronze.
His workshop is located in Montillot at the gateway to the Morvan, in the Yonne region, very close to Vézelay in France.
The infinite delicacy of Plaf's works is often highlighted by a contrast with raw forms to create works imbued with poetry, teeming with details and often exuding a raw sensuality, a non-academic eroticism.
He likes anthropomorphic bodies, chimeras, floral patterns, and gender confusion.
Plaf's great creativity allows him to tackle multiple themes, constantly reinventing himself while maintaining a style that is completely recognizable at first glance.
Plaf sculpts directly from the wax. This wax is then given to the foundry. Plaf subsequently works with the foundry on the chasing and patination.
Plaf's sculptures do not succumb to the trend of large, very large pieces. He prefers to reconnect with intimacy, with works that are meant to be looked at, not given to a fleeting glance, pieces that are handled to discover their details.
Pieces that always raise questions.
