It is then the pictorial material itself that becomes the object of the aesthetic experience. First, he stubbornly superimposes dozens of layers of paint, tirelessly repeated. Then comes the stage of deconstruction. With a sure gesture, he scrapes, sands, grinds, tears away the material, as if the background that was hidden had to reappear on the surface, not in its entirety but in traces. The material that thus rises acquires an autonomous existence. The scarifications come to life. The artist creates to the rhythm of his metal tools a vibrant texture, a sort of delicate and elusive skin.
