Biography

Louis Reinhardt or Ludwig Reinhardt (born in 1849 in Plauen; died at the end of October 1870 in Traunsee) was a German painter.
Reinhardt was an animal and landscape painter of the late Romantic period. However, animals such as flocks of sheep and cattle were of particular importance to him. His works frequently appear in auction catalogs. His untimely death prevented a long period of creative output. He had been working in Munich since 1869, after studying at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts.
In the beauty of his compositions we find a feeling of passion suggesting the metamorphosis between animal, man and romantic nature.
Overcome by depression, Reinhardt chose to commit suicide at Lake Traunsee in the Salzkammergut region. This occurred near Frauenkirchen.
His works are sold in prestigious auction houses such as Christie's or Sotheby's
